About CivicGrid

What it is

CivicGrid is a free public map of Windsor, Ontario. It puts information the City and Statistics Canada already publish, such as zoning, transit, census figures and development applications, on one map, with a link back to the source for every record. Nothing is invented: where the City's data is empty, the map shows it empty.

Who makes it

CivicGrid is made by a small independent team. It is not run by, or endorsed by, the City of Windsor or Statistics Canada.

What is live

Today the site shows the basemap (streets, buildings, water and parks from OpenStreetMap) and the City of Windsor's parcels coloured by zone. Click a parcel to see its address, zone code, lot size and a link to the City's by-law. Type an address in the search box to jump to its parcel. See the data page for exactly what is loaded and when.

What is coming

Next: transit routes and how often they run, census figures by neighbourhood and a corridor scorecard, then development applications and their status, then planning policy maps. Each layer is released only when it works on real data.
