CivicGrid Alpha

Draft for Bilal's approval. This page is not final until Bilal approves it (Gate A).

Terms of use

CivicGrid is an alpha: an early test version that a few people are trying out. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and it can change or disappear without notice.

What this site is, and is not

Who has the final word

The City of Windsor's by-laws and official pages (for zoning, Zoning By-law 8600 and By-law 85-18, which covers the former Township of Sandwich South lands annexed from Tecumseh), and Statistics Canada's published figures, are the authorities. If this site and an official source disagree, the official source is right. Every record on the site links to its source so you can check.

Zoning must be confirmed with the City

The parcel lines and zone codes on this site come from the City's open data. The City's own description of that dataset warns:

"The files represent land parcel polygons which are chiefly assessment based. ... Any zoning information or exact status should be confirmed in writing by the Building Department and/or Planning Department."

City of Windsor, former Open Data Catalogue page "Land Parcels" (opendata.citywindsor.ca/Details/204), which the City marks as no longer updated; read 2 November 2026.

Please follow that advice before you rely on any zone shown here.

Where the data comes from

The data page lists every dataset, its licence, the date it was fetched and how many records it holds. City of Windsor data is used under the City's Open Government Licence. Basemap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence, with tiles from Protomaps.

Reporting an error

Every record panel and the footer have a "Report an error" link. It opens an email to str8upgold@gmail.com with the record and page address filled in. There is no public issue form and no account to create.
